What is Veeam Availability Console?

Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities

Veeam is aware of the side-channel analysis vulnerabilities known as Meltdown (CVE-2017-5754) and Spectre (CVE-2017-5753, CVE-2017-5715) affecting most of the modern processors.

Add an extra SCSI Controller to Veeam Proxy Appliance.

Add an extra SCSI controller to allow for more VM disks processing in parallel (check the corresponding Veeam proxy settings, default value is 4). 

The limit for a single controller is the maximum number of devices per SCSI controller (15). 

Max SCSI controllers per VM is 4 = 60 disks max. 

Adding one additional SCSI controller is usually sufficient.

Disable automount on Veeam Proxy Appliance

This occurs due to hung backup job utilizing that specific proxy, and that proxy is not configured to have automount disabled.

In an Administrator Command Prompt run the following commands:

C:\Windows\system32>diskpart

Microsoft DiskPart version 6.3.9600

Copyright (C) 1999-2013 Microsoft Corporation.

On computer:ProxyServer

DISKPART> automount disable

Automatic mounting of new volumes disabled.

DISKPART> automount scrub

DiskPart successfully scrubbed the mount point settings in the system.

Automatic mounting of new volumes disabled.
